Practical advice, instruction, tips, horse-interest - it's all there in our feature articles!
The horseman, or
horsewoman, riding
across the cold
January heathland
or along a lonely
downland bridlepath - this is one of the iconic
images of our countryside. As we keep or recycle our Christmas
cards, how many of the scenes depicted on the greetings we
receive from family and friends carry images of horses - horses
outside a Dickensian coaching inn, or a woodlander guiding his
trusty Shire through a snowy landscape?
This remarkable animal was once so close to our way of
life, and yet it does seem that more and more people today
are rediscovering the importance of the horse - both for
leisure and commerce. Equine charities, of course, play a
major role in helping to care for sick, injured or old horses,
and we at Horse Buyer urge our readers to support as many
of these good causes as possible during 2008. We need to
ensure that Britain's horses and ponies all enjoy happy and
fulfilling lives - and let this be our New Year resolution.
The turn of the year is, of course, a time of rebirth, and
as Editor, I am pleased to inform you that our magazine
is growing with each issue. We are so grateful to those of
you who have written to us with good wishes, and it is very
pleasing, once again, to be able to offer so much news,
advice, information, and articles that celebrate the great
events associated with British equestrianism. But this year,
we would like you, the reader, to take a more active role in
Horse Buyer! For example, what tips do you have on health or
general care, on looking after ponies, or buying equipment? Why not drop us a line, and give other readers the benefits of
your experience?
